Visiting Writer on Assignment - February 2016

Thank you so much for arranging our stay in McKinney. Everything was perfect. I know it took a lot of people to make it happen.

The food was glorious. We will be dieting for the next decade but it was worth it. I am so impressed with each restaurant's commitment to fresh, local, great food! It was one of the standouts of the trip.

B&Bs... I can't thank you enough for your hospitality and warmth. Our stay was relaxing despite our full schedule and both homes are charming.

The Segway tour ... so much fun! Wonderful information and a great addition to the to-do list of anyone visiting.

Massages ... just what we needed. We've both been working so hard and it was the best way to relax.

The tour at Chestnut Square ...Very interesting. Of course, I'm a fan of old houses! I'll definitely be mentioning the wedding possibilities when I write my article.

I tried to think of constructive criticism, but there isn't even one. Everything is just perfect, unless you could please remove the calories from the food.

Thank you again. We both had an amazing time.

McKinney High School Class of 1965 - 50th Reunion (Nov. 2015)

Dear all at the CVB:
You've done it again! Our Class of 1965 50th Reunion was FANTASTIC! In no small measure, much of the credit belongs to you. You helped us plan the event from beginning to end!

From the negotiations with hotels, restaurants, and other special facilities, everything worked like clockwork. We've been receiving messages since the night of the last event telling us (the planning committee) how much they enjoyed all that was planned for them.

All of you worked so hard for us. And then, to open up the Visitors' Center for our registration was a real boon for the evening.
Y'all are the best! And a million thanks for a job well done.

 Warm regards,
Carolyn Corbin

Stories of Visitors to our Offices

"Jim Wilkins, a member of ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out), visited the McKinney Visitors Center and Made in McKinney Store in the fall of 2015. His wife had bought something in the store, so he came in to check it out. He raved about the store, the Visitors Center and McKinney. Then he came back later to thank us for being here and doing what we do."

Local Organizations

 Hi Beth....
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your assistance in publicizing our Silent Movie event on the MPAC Wurlitzer pipe organ last Saturday night. It was our largest crowd ever!!! In fact, I couldn't find more than a few empty seats on the ground level or the balcony either one. The event was a complete success. With your help, the word certainly got out for this event, and a good crowd was treated to a wonderful show!! I certainly enjoyed working with you, and look forward to our collaboration on our next silent movie event ... once again, many thanks.

Thank you so much for helping me! The [dining] guides are great and our customer (Class A Motor coaches’ from across the US and Canada) that are here all week are very happy to have them! Hope you have a safe and fun holiday also. Thank you and have a great day!
-- Joy Allen, Customer Service, MCD Innovations

I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate the help that you’ve provided to me over the last month. I am so grateful for the bags and supplies that you provided for the Youth Summit. They made the summit even better by having something that every participant could take home to remember the goals of the meeting.
Also, I was SUPER impressed by the response that I received from you regarding the bike rodeo yesterday. I didn’t expect a response for a week or so in regards to donations, but was amazed that we had received a donation for the crayons and bags within an hour.
It is so refreshing working with someone who delivers results immediately, and isn’t afraid to offer services and supplies. Your customer service is fantastic…I am just very grateful!!!
-- Shelai Mullins, Juvenile Case Manager, City of McKinney Municipal Court

Hi Beth,
Just wanted to drop you a thank you note for our fabulous scavenger hunt. We had people following us to hear the different stories moms and I put together for the girls.

McKinney High School Class of 1965 Turns 65 Reunion (Oct. 2012)

Hi, Dee-dee:
The committee was so impressed with MCVB as a result of our Friday meeting with you. In fact, they are thrilled that you are working with us on the events for our class reunion. This will be far and above what the Class of 1965 expects.
Thanks to you, Vanesa, and Beth for all your professionalism. And thanks, as always, for your kind hospitality. You showcase our wonderful city well.
Again, my utmost gratitude for helping us.
Warm regards,
Carolyn (Corbin)
Event Planning Committee

Hi, Beth:
Thanks so much for all your help with the article on the Class of '65 reunion and for spending so much time with us. The pictures and the story weave our history and our present-day experiences together as only a professional journalist can do.
Thank you for everything MCVB did to make the reunion/birthday bash a big success. This is the best event to date for our class. It was so much fun. We appreciate MCVB working with George Bush on the Ritz registration timing. People loved the venue and enjoyed seeing the conversion to a retail/office building from our old theater. What great memories it brought back!
Please tell all of MCVB how grateful we are for all the great help we received.

Texas Workforce Commission (Sept. 2012)

And that is how it turned out - everyone raved about the fun time and what a great and unique town McKinney was to visit. Thank you also for taking the bags to the hotel. I will look forward to talking to you again about the "cousin weekend" we will be having in October.

AJGA Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship at TPC, Craig Ranch (April 2013)

Thank you so much with all of your help with the Hunter/Mahan/UA Championship last week. It is much harder to put on a tournament without the support of a great CVB. Rumor also has it that you were the driving force behind all of the great meals we were given throughout the week. They were all very good! I sincerely hope you guys enjoyed having us as much as as we enjoyed being in McKinney. Hopefully, we will be back to see you again in the future.
-- Cliff Zsrael

Thank you for all of your efforts to make the AJGA Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship a success. We really enjoyed all that McKinney had to offer. This event would not have run so successfully without your efforts. All of the meals were excellent; everyone enjoyed Hutchins BBQ during the social event on Saturday.
-- Bridget

Thanks for all your help at Craig Ranch. It's always hard watching the strain that our tournament directors have to go through to find meals that suit the team's minimal budget. Having your help enabled us to eat at some fabulous restaurants. (Sauce is still one of my favorites of the last four tournament weeks.) Thank you from all of us. I hope we get to come back.
-- Matt

Thank you for taking the time and effort to arrange meals for our staff while we were in McKinney. I especially enjoyed our delicious meal at Sauce.
-- Mike Schutrum

Fort Worth Woman's Club (April 2013)

Dear Vanesa,
You did a wonderful job helping our committee with our bus trip to McKinney. All of us had a good time and enjoyed your delightful town. From the tour of the old courthouse and the great tour of the Heard-Craig House to the shopping around the square, your town welcomed and received us in style. Thank you for all that you did to make our time in McKinney special.

Thanks for the quick response and all of that great info! So nice to hear about the history of McKinney. All of this information will be really helpful in the next round of scripting the project.
Have a great day!

Thanks so much, Beth! Once again, I couldn't have known about [this story] or done it without your help. I do plan to follow up with at least a story or two about some of the veterans being honored, just didn't have time to include it in this weekend's article. I appreciate all of your help!
