In conjunction with the official Collin McKinney 250, the Sestercentennial of Collin McKinney’s birthday, the Collin County Historical Society & Museum is announcing their participation in this countywide celebration. The Museum is pleased to announce the "Collin McKinney - An Early Texas Exhibit" beginning Wednesday, March 2nd, Texas Independence Day. Exhibit hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 - 4pm through October. Don’t miss this opportunity to see what life was like for the county’s namesake.

Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and eight new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s nature trails at the 9th annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-size Animatronic Dinosaurs at the Heard Exhibit. Field trip and birthday party options available. Please note that we are unable to animate the dinosaurs when temperatures drop below 45 degrees.

This will be our 4th annual progressive dinner, held the first or second week of October to prevent other local events. Progressive dinner includes both retail shops and restaurant participation; 100% proceeds benefit Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (which McKinney Office is located at 901 N McDonald St #702, McKinney, TX 75069), a nonprofit organization that provides free civil legal services to low income residents in 114 Texas counties, including McKinney. This event directly benefits McKinney.

THE FAMILY PLACE COMES TO MCKINNEY
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in observance, Hope Rising will present three performances to benefit The Family Place. We are delighted to support The Family Place and welcome them to McKinney as they establish a much needed counseling center, open a resale shop and build the first Men’s shelter in the state of Texas.
Hope Rising will present three performances of two acts. The first act will be the hilarious DELIVER US NOT! written by Lee Howard and Greg Gamble, takes a look at three fetuses sharing a womb as they debate the possibilities of life-after-birth. The characters represent a trio of philosophies Taking to task such topics as atheism, warm-fuzzy-new-age sophisms, and pompous poetry, DELIVER US NOT! juggles it all with impudent wit and subtle subtext.
Act 2 is a collection of Hope Rising's favorite female monologues and two premier pieces from local area playwrights.
