  1. April is National Poetry Month! Let’s Celebrate.

    The members of the Mockingbird Poetry Society (a chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas) will celebrate April as National Poetry Month. Starting on Saturday, April 1 to end of the month, the Mockingbirds are in-charge of an April Display Cabinet in Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library at 101 E. Hunt, downtown McKinney.

  2. Call for International Artists for a Pop Up Art Gallery

    Are you an Artist? Would you like to have your artwork displayed overseas for a month and then here for a month? If so, then you might be interested in entering the SCHON EVERYWHERE gallery exchange event, a partnership between the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts and the Freya Frahm Event Center in Germany. The Call for Artists prospectus is located under the EVENTS tab at: www.heardcraig.org. Submission and payment are due by the end of May.

    April 20, 2018, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

    These story times are designed primarily for children and will introduce a different nature-themed book each week. During most of the story times, a puppet, live animal or enrichment items will be included to enhance the experience. These programs should last approximately 30-45 minutes depending on the book covered.

    Steve is exceptionally excited to show his new landscapes done in what he describes as Angular Expressionism. Raised in the coastal city of Corpus Christi, TX, Steve spent most of his childhood drawing, taking inspiration from comic books, album art and the colorful decor of his Hispanic heritage. In later years his artistic concepts have been inspired by observation, human emotion, inward struggles, spirituality and daily life.

  11. Celebrate Earth Day at Trinity Falls April 21

    Celebrate nature, spring and the Earth — all in one place — on Saturday, April 21, during Springtime at Trinity Falls. A 10:30 a.m. butterfly release at B.B. Owen Park, 7801 Trinity Falls Parkway, kicks off the free event, which also includes food trucks, children’s activities, model home tours and more. Tree sprigs donated by Woodlake Outdoors will be planted in the community’s new parks. Pedi cabs will whisk guests to eight professionally decorated model homes.

  16. An Evening of Virtuoso Guitar with Andy Timmons & Jennifer Batten

    Join The Guitar Sanctuary as we present an evening of Virtuoso Guitar with Andy Timmons, Jennifer Batten, and friends at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center on Friday April 27th at 8pm (doors open at 7pm).     Hip hounds and their humans will dig this dog-friendly day camp at Trinity Falls on Saturday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring the pack to the dog park in Trinity Falls for a day devoted to “pup-ular” activities including a cute canine contest and pet adoptions.
