    The first exhibit in the "Pairing Series" "Hues and Blues" pairs world renowned blind painter John Bramblitt with The Cast of Blues Exhibit from Middwest Arts Alliance. This “Pairing” is for the sighted and sight impaired. With exhibition of paintings by John Bramblitt paired with interactive touchable casts by sight impaired sculpturer Sharon McConnell-Dickerson, and photography of legendary blues artist. Reception June 16 at 6pm with John Bramblitt, Blues Guitarist Shane Frane performing. Watch for dates on a Workshop with John Bramblitt.

  2. Lost in Texas: Photographs, 2007-2017, J. R. Ball

    J.R. Ball first arrived in McKinney ten years ago and found himself immersed in the expansive flatness of the rural North Texas plains. He would drive for miles with only an antiquated film camera by his side, lost among places and things long forgotten, discarded, and abandoned. He developed a deep, personal connection with this subject matter, found meaning and direction. Now, he shares a decade worth of work in his first solo exhibition. Saturday, June 24 Panel Discussion, Culture Shock: Elevating a Creative Economy in the Face of Change, 8p North Texas is projected to add nearly 3 million residents by 2030, and McKinney will be greatly impacted. With big changes on the horizon, what will it take to cultivate, attract, and sustain a community that supports arts and cultural development well into the future? Panelists will include Amy Rosenthal, MPAC Director; Guy Giersch, City of McKinney Historic Preservation Officer; Dr. Dallie Clark, Professor of Humanities, Collin College.

The Society sponsors the Collin County Annual Poetry Contest for students and adults. It takes poetry not only to schools and other organizations like senior or retirement homes through poetic events, one of which is, poetry reading.

    Tantalize your taste buds by sampling creative flavors of homemade ice creams concocted by “crankers” competing for awards and the grand prize, a 5-gallon White Mountain ice cream maker, at the 22nd Annual Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank-Off in McKinney. Chestnut Square Historic Village hosts this delicious event which also includes kids’ activities, live music, and more. Registration and cranking starts at 9 a.m. with ice cream sampling by the public starting at noon.     A group exhibit dedicated to the stunning accomplishments of four artists whose meticulously created art presents animals or objects with heightened clarity and details that elude the naked eye. Helen Bailey and Noriko DeWitt are award-winning and published colored pencil artists. Bob Bruu elevates everyday objects by painstakingly carving them from wood and then painting the sculptures. Pete Quaid works in oils and will be showing his award-winning still lifes.
