The Heard-Craig House is a beautifully preserved historic home located in McKinney’s historic district. The home was built in 1900 by Stephen D. Heard and his wife, Lillie. The couple moved into the home with their 18-year-old son, Fred, and 16-year-old daughter, Katie. Visit Chestnut Square Historic Village and see how people lived from 1850-1930. Tours are offerred at 11:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The tour includes five homes, a one-room schoolhouse, early 1900`s grocery store and chapel. Learn about the families who were early settlers in McKinney.

Guests are encouraged to linger over tea and enjoy conversation with friends. A tour of the historic Heard-Craig House will complete the afternoon.

The program by Janice Byrd entitled “Mark & Livy” chronicles the love story of Mark Twain and his beloved wife, Livy.
