The original item was published from February 15, 2017 10:32 AM to September 14, 2020 1:14 AM
We love having travel writers and bloggers visit us. We just had to share portions of two recent blogs written by Marye Audet-White (a.k.a. The Restless Chipotle) about her experiences in McKinney. We look forward to her visiting again, and from the sound of her blog, she's looking forward to it, too!
Red Gate Inn: A Romantic B&B in McKinney
January 13, 2017 (Shared with Permission from the Writer)
Red Gate Inn in McKinney, Texas is an idyllic Bed and Breakfast for honeymoons, romantic getaways, and girls’ weekends. The three guest rooms are named for flowers and each has its own unique charm. The house has been loving restored and reworked with an eye toward both the historic integrity and the comfort of the guests. Not too far from Dallas and it’s conveniently located just a mile from the historic district. You’ll find plenty of food, shopping, and things to do there!
More about the food and shopping next time.
My husband and I were invited to experience historic McKinney, Texas at no cost to ourselves. All opinions expressed are my own. A special thanks to McKinney Visitor’s Bureau for all of their help in making arrangements for this series.
When my husband and were invited to stay for two days in McKinney and experience some of what the town had to offer I wasn’t sure what to expect. Back when I was in high school you only went to McKinney if you had to. You know, like to see your great-grandmother or something. I figured we’d have a nice little get away and I’d get caught up on reading. I was writing an article for a client and wondered how I was going to write the full number of words assigned to me.
“I’m going to have to use a lot of adjectives”, I told my husband as I settled into my seat for the hour long drive north.
I’m telling you – picturesque perfect!
McKinney Restaurants: Go. Eat. Repeat.
February 3, 2017 (Shared with permission by the writer)
Figuring out where to eat in McKinney is tough, not because there aren’t many but because there are so many McKinney restaurants that you’d like to try it’s hard to choose just one. You wouldn’t expect to find much culinary excellence and sophistication in a little Texas town but McKinney is stocked with just that. Many (if not most) of the eateries focus on local and seasonal foods prepared simply and with excellent attention to all the little details. The eateries that I enjoyed were just a few of the many spots to choose from in the historic district alone.
If you life in North Texas, McKinney restaurants offer a plethora of culinary adventures. Keep in mind that most of these menus are seasonal and so the items that I enjoyed may not be on the current menu. No matter, I promise that whatever these McKinney restaurants are offering will indulge you in an extraordinary gastronomic adventure.
