Special International Exchange Art Exhibit Open in McKinney
Posted on September 21, 2018 at 12:20 PM by Beth Shumate
Artwork from Germany is now on display in McKinney's historic district in the Carriage House at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts.
Featuring works in the theme "Colors of the Wind," the
exhibit is a new exchange of artwork
created specifically for this artistic partnership between the Heard-Craig and the Freya Frahm Haus in Laboe, Germany. Art by North Texas artists that was on display in Laboe last month was returned home along with this new art from Germany. The two centers plan to keep this special partnership going, exchanging new artwork back and forth between the two countries to express support for the arts around the world.
Heard-Craig Executive Director Karen Zupanek hosted a welcome breakfast this week for local artists, art patrons, and a couple guests visiting from Germany for this event. In August, a group gathered at the Freya Frahm Haus hosted a similar opening party, Skyping with the Heard-Craig director so she could express her thanks to the group gathered German center.
The artworks will be on display in the Heard-Craig Carriage House until the end of September when more McKinney art will be sent to Germany along with the currently visiting pieces. Prints of the displayed art pieces are available during the exhibit for $100 each.
