Visit McKinney Art Experience Gallery

Visit McKinney Experience Center Art Gallery is a rotating exhibit curated and housed by Visit McKinney to feature local artists' work. The rotating exhibit’s purpose is to feature a solo artist's interpretation of McKinney and the City’s many picturesque features. A group show will be hosted in September 2024 in conjunction with the one-year anniversary of Visit McKinney Experience Center's Grand Re-Opening. Solo Shows will begin on January 3, 2025; use the application below for consideration for both the group show and for solo shows.
In addition to displaying your artwork, Visit McKinney promotes the exhibit through our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
Eligible Media & Artist Guidelines
- This call is open to all artists residing in McKinney.
- The media that will be considered for display in this gallery area includes paintings, photography, prints | textile | illustrations
- Applications are free.
- Artists may apply at any time.
- Artists interested in applying may submit in more than one media category.
- Artists may submit up to 15 images for Visit McKinney to choose from.
- Media type is limited to 2D art that can hang on our wall apparatus.
- Each individual piece should not exceed 25 lbs.
- Images should clearly represent the quality and style of the body of work.
- Provide an Artist Statement that should describe the material and technique that explains the body of work well and provide a value range for the artist's work.
- Label each file you submit using the following format: name_surname_title_year_medium_dimensions.jpg
- If you have a website with images of current work, please also include the link.
Subject Matter Restrictions:
- Due to the highly public nature of the exhibit space, subject matter of a sexual and/or violent nature is strictly prohibited.
- All artwork must in some way depict something about McKinney – popular scenes, events, iconic locations, etc.
Purpose & Responsibilities
This partnership allows you to feature your artwork to both locals and visitors. You are welcome to provide a PDF file of the flyer to be posted on our kiosk, website, and social media platforms. Visit McKinney will not manage or handle the installation of the art, removal, teardown, or any monetary transactions. If your art is available for purchase, Visit McKinney will provide the patron with the proper contact information so that the purchaser may handle the transaction directly with the artist; Visit McKinney will not be involved in the transaction process. If pick-up of the art piece is outside of regular Visit McKinney business hours, the artist must provide at least three days' notice to ensure a staff member is present. Visit McKinney will not be involved in any physical handling of the artwork and cannot be held liable for any damage that might occur to a piece of artwork while on the premises.
Gallery Review
- Artwork is considered for placement in the gallery based on the images submitted; high-quality photos are recommended.
- In-person proposals and consultations may be available if the artwork submitted is displayed within Downtown McKinney.
- Artists may be wait-listed due to the rotation schedule
- Approved artists will be notified by email whether their application is accepted. A schedule for space consultation and installation will be discussed after the chosen artist agrees to Visit McKinney’s terms and conditions.
Submission Process & Application
Please complete the application fully, including the artist statement, dimensions, and information about the images submitted and Visit McKinney will review all application in the order in which they are received. Accepted artists will be contacted with more information about contract terms, installation dates, and exhibition terms.
