About Andrea Holmes Art Studio

Andrea Holmes is a mural artist, author, and creative entrepreneur based in McKinney, Texas. She started painting murals in 2020 when the world shut down and she began adding positive messages to the windows of closed stores downtown. One of those shops had graffiti, and she offered to paint over it.

That became her first exterior mural, a 100-foot-long piece for Fair & Square Imports that featured native Texas birds, plants, and flowers. She is now working on a 100 Bird Mural Project. Andrea’s goal is to paint one hundred murals inspired by birds from around the world.

Her sixth mural, located in Uptown Dallas, It includes several large-scale murals that celebrate the energy and personality of the neighborhood. Each piece tells a small story about city life and community.

One features a dog walker, another captures a trolley named “Betty” with a shopper amongst wildflowers, a bike rider, a hummingbird with a "Welcome to Uptown” sign, and one of a Monk Parakeet which can be seen along the Katy Trail. Her bird murals have already taken her to Hilo, Hawaii, Vienna, Austria, Carson City, Nevada, and New Mexico.

Each one is designed to celebrate local species and bring color and joy to the community. She is also the co-author of Art Makes Magic: Keys to Imagining the Artist’s Life from My Fairy Art Mother, a book that helps creatives build lives full of imagination and purpose.

In addition, she created Travel Sticker Suitcase, a viral art print that lets travelers display their favorite stickers on a vintage suitcase design. Andrea was named McKinney Partner of the Year in 2021 and is part of Leadership McKinney’s 2025 class. She continues to look for new walls to paint around the world for her 100 Bird Mural Project, bringing beauty, connection, and joy to every community she visits.
