About Heard-Craig Center for the Arts
The Heard-Craig Art Center & Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum in downtown McKinney. The Heard Museum was a home first, built in the year 1900. This historic space was lived in and welcomed many friends, family, and community during their lives and ownership.
Kathryn brought the art club to Texas and she was the first woman appointed to the board of Austin College. She was leading the way for individuals to express their talents, passion, and accomplish goals beyond! The Heard-Craig Art Center & Museum (Women’s Club Trust) was established in 1970 when Kathryn passed.
She left her art and heart to the legacy that we stand in today! With 54 years of service, we hold special memories of many in the community and those who traveled in to have the opportunity to create their story here with us in the beauty that she created and left.
We have the Art-O-Mat which is a vintage machine repurposed for collectible art hence the Art-O-Mat! People travel all over the world and to McKinney to add to their art collections! Our non-profit organization services 26 clubs and over 1200 in the community to learn and gather.
The Heard Craig Art Center & Museum has private parking in downtown McKinney with a private garden, gazebo, and Carriage House. The private garden & Carriage House venue space is available to rent and our main house Museum offers group tours, luncheons, bridal tea, baby showers, and more!
When you visit our book your group or venue with us you are supporting art, history, preservation, the community, and Kathryn Heard-Craig's legacy. Private Garden Venue, Carriage House Indoor Venue and Garden Outdoor Venue We rent our venue for graduations, birthdays, weddings, and more!
We have public pricing and for those who are Heard-Craig Patron Members, we have discount rental pricing. We also book private events such as bridal teas, bridal showers, and baby showers inside the Main Museum. When you partner with us you are supporting art, history, preservation, the community, and the historic Heard legacy.
