Heard-Craig Center For The Arts
Tour the beautiful Heard-Craig House (built in 1900) and the adjacent Katie's Garden. This pristinely-restored home holds many works of Texas art and artifacts that belonged to the Heard-Craig family and that reflect on the lives of this influential early McKinney family. The grounds also include a garden and carriage house that also serve as a popular wedding venue. The house, as it has historically served, is a center for women's groups to hold meetings, and the museum staff regularly hosts formal teas as well as art and music events.
Check the website for tour schedule and information about weddings and other events held regularly onsite.
Also, when visiting the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts, make sure to ask the staff about the Art-o-Mat located in the Carriage House. This vintage cigarette machine turned fine art dispenser provides a fun way to own an inexpensive piece of original art that comes in a tiny package.
