32 Life-Sized Bird Murals
A cooperative project between McKinney Main Street and local muralist Andrea Holmes that includes 32 life-sized birds painted around downtown. Look up as you peruse the shops, or follow the Birds of Downtown tour in the McKinney TX! app for the full trail with each bird's story. Holmes, known as the "bird lady" and host of the global Birdtober challenge, paints from a studio right in the historic district and is on a mission to paint 100 bird murals around the world.

Eight Steel Monarchs Around Downtown
Eight beautiful, over-sized, steel Monarch butterfly sculptures painted by McKinney artists are installed throughout the Historic Downtown McKinney Cultural District. The intent of the collection is to teach visitors and residents the importance of the Monarch butterfly to our ecosystem.

McKinney's galleries showcase contemporary painting, photography, handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media — much of it by North Texas artists, with exhibitions and receptions through the year. The LAST Art Gallery represents over 40 area artists and makers; the McKinney Art Gallery shows around 50. Creative studios across town offer hands-on painting, pottery, and craft experiences for all ages.
Each spring, the Arts in Bloom festival brings more than 120 juried artists, live music, art demonstrations, and food and drink to downtown for a three-day weekend. Make plans to attend and explore even more of McKinney's art!
