A Downtown Tradition with Heart

First introduced in Downtown McKinney last fall, the Grandma Stand quickly became a favorite for market visitors looking for something genuine, unexpected, and human. It reflects the spirit of Downtown McKinney: community-focused, welcoming, and built on relationships.

The concept first began in 2012, when creator Mike Matthews created a simple way for people to connect with his grandmother, Eileen Matthews, through conversation. After her passing, the idea continued through a rotating group of grandmas who bring warmth and empathy to communities around the country.

Today, the Grandma Stand continues that tradition in Downtown McKinney by creating space for people to pause, connect, and remember that sometimes the most meaningful moments are also the simplest.
