Board Meetings

Board meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. Special meetings are held as needed for strategic planning and other Visit McKinney business needs. The location of each meeting is denoted on the posted meeting agenda.

2022-23 Visit McKinney Board Members

Visit McKinney is served by a seven-member Board of Directors who are appointed by the McKinney City Council and who serve staggered terms of two years; board members may serve up to three terms.  Following are the Visit McKinney board members for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Connie Gibson - Board Vice Chair

Connie Gibson Board Chair

Connie Gibson is the Development Director for McKinney Christian Academy. Connie joined the development office at MCA in 2014 as the PR and special events coordinator. Previously, she worked in administration with McKinney Community Development Corporation.

Katie Scott

Katie Scott Board Vice Chair

Katie Scott is the owner of two shops in Downtown McKinney - the Groovy Coop, a vintage boutique that opened in 2015, and Red Zeppelin Records that opened in mid-2020 and frequently features live performances by local musicians, too. In early 2021, the record store expanded to include a record label that focuses on up-and-coming McKinney musical artists. In fall of 2021, Red Zeppelin began doubling its space to make room for an actual performance venue and bar. This expansion was completed in early 2022.

Whitney Nash

Whitney Nash Board Secretary/Treasurer

Whitney has three businesses located in McKinney. She owns and operates two companies herself - Nashional Self-Directed which is a Self-Directed Solo 401(k) plan provider and educational consultant, and Above & Below 1031 which provides qualified intermediary services for 1031 exchanges. Whitney also co-owns Nashional Financial with her husband, Jeff, which provides comprehensive financial, tax, and protection planning services. Whitney currently serves on the Board of Directors for Volunteer McKinney as the President-Elect, and previously on the McKinney Armed Services Memorial Board. She is very active in the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, is a 2021 graduate of Leadership McKinney, and volunteers frequently for several organizations. Whitney lives in McKinney with Jeff, their young son, and two shelter rescue dogs.

Deidre Woodard

Deidre Woodard Board Member

Deidre Woodard is the Broker & Owner of STATUS Realty LLC, the premier real estate brokerage for Sports & Entertainment and High Net Worth clientele. She is a graduate of Stanford University and the Entrepreneurship Program at SMU Cox School of Business. Deidre is also CEO and Creative Director for her production company, Platinumstar Enterprises LLC, where she currently has a variety of TV & Film projects in various stages of development. Deidre is a past VP for Women in Film Dallas and past President for the Estates of Verona Homeowners Association. She currently serves as the President of the Athletic Booster Club for Cockrill Middle School.

Emily McClure

Emily McClure is the owner of two companies, EM Corporate, established in 2017, a photography brand specializing in headshots, and Emily Megan Photography, established in 2007, featuring family and senior work. She is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and a former collegiate athlete. Emily lives in McKinney with Kevin, her husband of 23 years, and four children, ranging in age from 13-19. They have lived in McKinney for 10 years and enjoy the authentic people, fabulous downtown, and multiple beautiful parks.

Janie Pena

Janie Peña Board Member

Janie Pena has had extensive administrative professional experience in the areas of education, external affairs, transportation, government relations and customer service. Although retired she continues to serve on several boards including the Seed Project Foundation Board in McKinney and the Baylor Scott and White University Medical Center Board in Dallas. Previous board service includes Frontiers of Flight Museum; Mi Escuelita; Brother Bill’s Helping Hand; and several chambers including the Metrocrest Chamber Board. Janie received her Ed.M. degree from Harvard and a B.S. in education from Texas Christian University.

Patrick McGuire

Patrick McGuire Board Member

Patrick McGuire has over 20 years of experience in travel, tourism, and hospitality marketing for companies such as Continental/United Airlines, IHG, Hilton, Apple Leisure Group, and Hyatt. He is a graduate of The Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University and The Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). Patrick enjoys traveling (having visited all 50 US states), photography, and building furniture.

Jon Christopher Davis

Jon Christopher Davis Board Alternate

Jon Christopher Davis (JCD) is a McKinney-based singer-songwriter who has written songs for and collaborated with legends including Stan Lynch (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Vince Gill, Radney Foster, Rodney Crowell, Hal Ketchum, Dolly Parton, The Go-Gos, and Billy Ray Cyrus, some of these while working in the Nashville music scene during the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2004, his band scored a Top 40 hit with his dance hall track, “Lone Star Attitude,” resulting in the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Department naming his band “The Official Band of Texas” to represent the Lone Star State to more than 70 countries. The song later became a trademarked brand - Lone Star Attitude® apparel stores (at DFW International Airport) and LSA Burger Co. (in Denton and The Colony, Texas). In 2010, JCD was awarded song of the year by the American Cancer Society for “Relay for Life,” and in 2012, he was a featured artist on “Troubadour TX,” a national TV show about Texas singer-songwriters. JCD has shared the stage with the likes of Train, Daughtry, Lyle Lovett, Jack Ingram, Michael McDonald, Eddie Money, Poco, Restless Heart, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, and Robby Krieger of The Doors, and he has recorded for several labels including Warner Brothers, Sony, MCA, Curb, and Arista Records. He and his wife Kelli live in McKinney and have a grown daughter.
