Texas Friendly Music Community badge created for McKinney by the state music officeMcKinney's Music Scene

The McKinney community is lucky to have so many talented musicians including many truly gifted singer-songwriters. Find them performing at many of the downtown restaurants and both wineries as well as a handful of restaurants across the city. The people of McKinney loves our musicians, whether professional or amateur, so much that in 2020, Visit McKinney worked with the Texas Music Office within the Office of the Governor to earn a Texas Music Friendly Community designation. And in summer 2021, Downtown McKinney worked with KHYI The Range radio station to host the 25th Annual Texas Music Revolution festival featuring four main stages, small stages in more than 25 shops and restaurants, and almost 100 musicians during the two-day event.

McKinney's Adriatica development is home to The Guitar Sanctuary, a full-service guitar shop and studio, with music instruction by some of McKinney's most talented musicians. Attached to this shop is a performance venue, The Sanctuary Music & Events, where concerts are held on a regular basis, both of Guitar Sanctuary students as well as some of the finest guitarists and singers in the country.

These musicians are also regularly featured at McKinney's downtown festivals throughout the year and during the annual Smiles Charity Concert held every Memorial Day weekend (on Sunday).

For those interested in classical music, the all-volunteer McKinney Community Band holds free concerts at the McKinney Performing Arts Center four times a year.

McKinney is also home to the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra (previously Odysseus Chamber Orchestra) which holds concerts several times a year.
