McKinney National Airport (DTX)

McKinney's New Commercial Air Terminal

McKinney is getting its own front door to the sky. In November 2026, McKinney National Airport (long known to pilots and North Texas business travelers by its FAA code, TKI) opens a brand-new commercial passenger terminal under the IATA code DTX. For the first time in its history, McKinney will offer scheduled, nonstop commercial airline service, giving residents and visitors a convenient alternative to Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field.

Located just 30 miles north of downtown Dallas at 1910 FM 546, DTX is designed around the same idea that makes McKinney itself appealing: less hassle, more charm. Expect shorter security lines, easier parking, and a boutique-airport experience, without sacrificing the ability to fly nonstop to popular leisure destinations.

Why McKinney Is Getting Commercial Air Service

McKinney National Airport has operated as a general aviation airport for more than 40 years, serving corporate aircraft for companies headquartered in the region. With McKinney's population now exceeding 235,000 and Collin County home to roughly 1.3 million people, the new commercial terminal reflects the region's rapid growth — and gives North Texans a lower-stress way to fly nonstop to popular destinations without the congestion of DFW or Love Field.
