Dad will learn how to choose the best steak and how to cook it correctly. Local Yocal now offers these classes and other events (i.e. chef's dinners and concerts) at their event venue, The Augustus, located behind Local Yocal BBQ & Grill and next door to TUPPS Brewery, not at the location shown at the top of the page.
  • Fishing at Towne Lake Park or Bonnie Wenk Park - Fish from the shore of the lake at either of these beautiful city parks. Just make sure everyone who needs a fishing license has one.
  • Cycling, Hiking, or Camping at Erwin Park (shown) - Explore the 10 miles of bike trails, or reserve a campsite and take camping equipment with you to make it an overnight adventure.

  • Arcade 92 - Challenge your dad to a game of Asteroids or Guitar Hero in downtown McKinney's vintage arcade. And while you're there, make sure to split one of their incredible appetizers or desserts! And if you're 21 or over, you can enjoy a beer or cocktail, too!
  • Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary (shown) - Go on a night hike, explore the wetlands during a canoe outing, or just take a nature hike through the various habitats. The Native Plant and Butterfly Garden is open June through early October each year, and the indoor and outdoor exhibits are always fun to explore. Plus check out the giant animatronic bugs making up the BUGS Live! exhibit, on display through June 29, 2025.
  • The Comedy Arena - Share a laugh during one of the many types of comedy shows at downtown McKinney's one and only comedy club.
  • Guys high 5ing after throwing an axeThe Horse's Axe - Head to The Horse's Axe in Downtown McKinney and test your strength and skills at axe throwing. Who'll get more bullseyes - you or Dad? 
  • TUPPS Brewery - If your dad is a beer aficionado, enjoys hanging out watching sports on the big screen, or listening to live music, TUPPS Brewery is the place to take him. TUPPS now has a craft kitchen so you can enjoy fresh-made food along with your beer.

  • Kayaking at The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife SanctuaryJuneteenth McKinney - Enjoy a day-long celebration of Emancipation Day hosted by the City of McKinney.
  • Downtown McKinney Craft Beer Walk - For those of you over 21, maybe Dad or Grandpa would enjoy tasting a wide variety of craft beers while walking around Historic Downtown McKinney on Saturday. 

  • Wetlands Canoe Trails - The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting one of their wetland canoe trails on Father's Day (June 15). Get more information HERE. 

  • McKinney Chupacabras - Cheer for the home team at one of McKinney's own FC soccer matches ... or if they're not playing at home, take Dad to one of their watch parties. (Games are held in season - May-July.)
