(McKinney – April 13, 2026) Quilt lovers, history enthusiasts, and art admirers alike are invited to experience the vibrant beauty of America’s quilting heritage at the upcoming Crazy Quilt Show, hosted by Chestnut Square Heritage Village, this May.

Part of the beloved “Crazy Days in May” celebration, the exhibition will take place May 22-24, with a special preview experience on May 22. Guests will have the rare opportunity to explore one of the nation’s largest collections of crazy quilts—intricate, richly details textile artwork dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

“I just fell in love with these quilts. They are the most beautiful quilts that I’ve ever seen,” says Mary Lou, Crazy Quilt collector. Husband Will says, “Don’t overlook the crazy quilts. I never knew anything about them until Mary Lou started collecting them. Now, I think they are the coolest quilts.”

Known for their bold colors, irregular patterns, and elaborate embroidery, crazy quilters are more than decorative pieces—they are deeply personal works of art that tell stories of creativity, community, and history. Each quilt on display reflects the craftmanship and imagination of its maker, offering a unique glimpse into the past.

Visitors can stroll through the aisles of quilts, viewing the extraordinary work in an immersive setting that brings history to life. The event promises inspiration for quilters, artists, and anyone who appreciates handmade artistry.

The Crazy Quilt Show will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, with general admission tickets available for purchase online now. VIP access will provide a private reception and early access to the quilt show on May 22 from 6-8 p.m.

Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or simply curious about this distinctive art form, the Crazy Quilt Show offers a colorful and engaging way to connect with history, creativity, and community in the heart of McKinney.

As the nation approaches the milestone celebration of the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026, events like the Crazy Quilt Show highlight the enduring traditions and personal stories that have shaped American culture. These historic quilts, stitched by hand over a century ago, serve as tangible reminders of the creativity, resilience, and diverse voices woven into the fabric of the United States.
