[Release Date: Oct. 25, 2023] Visit McKinney is now accepting tourism grant applications from organizations planning events or initiatives that promote the City of McKinney as a tourism destination.
“As the city’s tourism entity, we strive to bring new dollars into the city's economy through visitor-related travel,” said Aaron Werner, Visit McKinney Executive Director. “These grant funds provide us the opportunity to assist groups with marketing and promotion of events and projects geared toward visitors but enjoyed by residents, too.”
Visit McKinney annually offers $30,000 to qualifying applicants split via two cycles each fiscal year. The Visit McKinney board awards the grant funds based on state-established guidelines governing the use of hotel tax. These guidelines, application, and schedule of the grant process can all be found online at VisitMcKinney.com/grants.
Anyone who wishes to discuss the viability of a project or event may complete the inquiry letter also found on this webpage and submit it to Werner by email to executivedirector@visitmckinney.com.
“This is the first round of grants for our new fiscal year, and we’re excited to see what types of projects and events applicants bring to us this fall,” Werner said, adding that grant recipients in the previous fiscal year included Ratrodtober, SBG Hospitality, Marching Music Made in McKinney, McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra, and MillHouse McKinney,
The deadline for Cycle 1 grant applications is Wednesday, Nov. 15. Applicants will make presentations to the Visit McKinney board on Nov. 28, and the board will announce grant awards during its December or January meeting.
Visit McKinney is funded by hotel tax dollars collected by the City of McKinney.
