Both visitors and residents alike love that McKinney is such a dog-friendly community. Not only do we love seeing all the dogs at city events, frolicking at the dog park, keeping fit by leading their families on nature trail walks, and accompanying their owners in the open-air dining atmosphere of many of McKinney's restaurant patios. But did you know that quite a few of the shops in historic downtown McKinney have "store dogs"? Some of the downtown merchants were recently sharing photos and stories of their store pups, so we just had to share here. Next time you're in one of these shops, make sure to say "hello" to their resident pups!
Canine Cookie Company - Store Dog: Daisy
One of the most popular, dog-friendly spots in downtown McKinney is, not surprisingly, Canine Cookie Company. And little Daisy is security officer extraordinaire who happily greets the customers, both the human ones and the furry, four-legged variety. When the Canine Cookie Company moved a couple of doors down earlier in the year, owner Stephanie reports they love having the increased square footage for more products - pet accessories and all kinds of fun items for pet parents in addition to the handmade treats - but it also allows for lots of open space so their guests have room to explore and "socialize"!
Carpe Diem Comics - Store Dog: Pancake
Pancake is pretty well-known on the square and oversaw the move his "parents" Shado and Lys made from their original Carpe Diem Comics space on E. Virginia to their much larger spot on East Louisiana where shoppers and gamers can gather while enjoying conversation and gaming. And this lucky dog occasionally tests toys for across-the-street neighbor,The Canine Cookie Company.
Jasper & Petals - Store dog: Coco
Jasper & Petals store owner Mason said Coco has been gaining a very loyal customer base at the boutique. It's easy to see why. Little Coco is quite a cutie, and we love that she's color-coordinated with her "dad" in this shot he shared!
Rockin' AB - Store Dog: Perry
There is nothing "standard" about standard-sized poodle, Perry, who greets customers at Rockin' A B! Always sporting a fancy hairdo and often decked out for upcoming holidays, Perry loves to welcome guests at the cash register, out front on the sidewalk, or even just wandering around the store. Follow the store's social media accounts to see fun pictures of Perry that her mom and store owner Amy loves to share!
The Neathery Estate - Inn Pup: Mr. Henner
Mr. Henner is "lord of the manor" at the beautiful Neathery Estate Bed and Breakfast. Innkeeper Tiffany is actively involved with dog rescue, too, so this sweet pup often has visiting companions including foster "brothers" and "sisters" to keep him busy playing and keeping watch over them!
Red Zeppelin Records - Store Dog: Wren
Can you think of a cooler place to spend time than in a record store? Store dog Wren, who just turned 4 in October, gets to spend time chillin' while surrounded by great music at Red Zeppelin Records.
TexaKona Coffee - Store Dogs: Caramel Machiatto & Earl Grey
These two sweet pups got to hang out at the brand new location of TexaKona Coffee Museum & Gift Shop while owner Elaine, son Patrick, and their crew were setting everything up and getting ready for their recent grand opening at the Mill at East McKinney.
Texas Monkey Business - Store Dog: Beaux
Little Beaux shows up from time to time on Texas Monkey Business's social media accounts as well as in the shop! Who could not fall in love with that face? And sometimes, Beaux will be decked out in cute costumes based on merchandise in their store - hint: think Darth Vader with glowing eyes! You'll have to follow the Texas Monkey Business Instagram account for me of Beaux!
Lemon Drop Studios - Studio Dog: Waylon
Waylon visits the studio quite a bit to keep Lisa and Alyssa company when setting up for a photoshoot at Lemon Drop Studios.
