Welcome to the Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt!
This year’s hunt returns bigger and bolder than ever! Join us on Saturday, August 30, 2025 for two fun scavenger hunt games! From clues to glowing murals, be on the lookout for surprises you’ll need to experience in person. We’ve hidden the fun in plain sight. Will you uncover it?
This year features two different games to play, each with its own set of clues and challenges. You can choose to do just one—or take on both! The hunts are independent of each other, so you don’t need to complete one to enjoy the other. Twice the fun, twice the adventure!
$2,500 Grand Prize Scavenger Hunt:
- The hunt kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 30.
- The first clue and puzzle will start at 222 N Tennessee St.
- There are no printed maps this year—everything will be digital.
- Follow @DowntownMcKinney and @VisitMcKinneyTX on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
- Visit eight (8) stops and solve a challenge at each in order to progress to the next.
- Once all eight (8) challenges are correctly completed in the correct order, participants will unlock the final prize challenge.
Search and Discover Hidden Computer Chips & Wooden Coins:
- Adults will be hunting for green computer chips—not coins!
- Chips will be scattered throughout the Downtown Cultural District and must be redeemed at the Visit McKinney Visitor's Shop located at 200 W Virginia St.
- Each chip will be marked with a prize tier indicating the level of reward it can be exchanged for.
- Wooden coins will be hidden specifically for children in the designated zones on the map. These child-only coins are also redeemed at the Visit McKinney Visitor's Shop and will be exchanged for age-appropriate prizes.
- Only three (3) prizes may be claimed per person. Please be courteous of others who will be participating.

Rules & Regulations
1. Social Media Advantage: Follow @downtownmckinney and @visitmckinneytx on Facebook and Instagram for exclusive updates and insights.
2. Maps: There are no paper maps this year. All materials will be available digitally through our official channels.
3. Prizes:
A. Computer Chips & Wooden Coins: All chips and coins must be redeemed at the Visit McKinney Visitor's Shop located at 200 W Virginia St. Chips will be marked with their respective prize tiers. Limit 3 prize claims per person. If you’re not redeeming a chip or coin, please return it to where you found it. Chips must be redeemed on the day of the event by 5:30 p.m.
B. Grand Prize: The first participant to correctly solve all eight (8) challenges, in the correct order will win the $2,500 cash prize.
4. Respect for Property: Please do not damage, deface, or trespass on private property. Everything is placed with care and respect—please return the favor.
5. Public Accessibility: All clues and chips are placed in safe, accessible, public areas. No digging, climbing, or unsafe behavior is required or allowed.
6. Property Boundaries: Clues and chips will only be found in public rights-of-way, City property, or visible public areas of private property. TUPPS Brewery property is included, but not inside any buildings.
7. Redemption: All redemptions will take place at the Visit McKinney Visitor's Shop located at 200 W Virginia St. Computer chips must be surrendered at the time of redemption and exchanged according to the prize tier marked on them. Wooden coins will be verified and exchanged for child-appropriate prizes. There is a limit of three (3) tiered prize redemptions per household. McKinney Main Street and Visit McKinney are not liable for any issues related to prize availability or redemption.
Waiver of Liability
Participant acknowledges their full consent, agreement and willing participation in the Scavenger Hunt. In consideration thereof, Participant forever waives, releases, discharges and agrees to hold harmless Sponsors, together with their respective affiliates, promotional partners, sponsors, event organizers, individual team members, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the event, and all other officers, directors, employees, agents, successors, assigns, and legal representatives of each of them, all for the purposes herein referred to as RELEASEES, from all liability, any and all claims, demands, actions, causes and expenses of any nature, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, liability, attorney’s fees, expenses for litigation and/or settlement arising out of my participation in the Scavenger Hunt. I understand that the Scavenger Hunt is conducted on or near open public roadways and understand that I must be alert and obey all traffic laws as it pertains to pedestrians. By participating in the Scavenger Hunt, I forever agree and consent not to sue the RELEASEES in any cause of action arising out of my/our participation of the Adventures in Scavenger Hunting and Party. I agree that this consent and release shall apply to all of my successors in interest.
No Purchase Necessary:
Participation in the scavenger hunt is free and open to the public. There is no purchase necessary to join the hunt or to win prizes.
By participating in the Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt, you agree to abide by these rules and ensure a positive experience for all involved. Failure to do so may result in the immediate disqualification of any such participant, at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Employees, independent contractors, interns, officers, directors, and agents of the Sponsors and/or the City of McKinney, and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate. The Sponsors of “Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt” (the “Scavenger Hunt”) are McKinney Downtown Business Re-Development Corporation (d/b/a McKinney Main Street) and McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (d/b/a Visit McKinney).
By participating in the Downtown McKinney Scavenger Hunt, you agree to abide by these rules and create a memorable and safe experience for all.
